Get answers to common questions about Perms.
Perms use chemical processes that can stress hair if it is already compromised. A thorough consultation, strand test, and professional technique minimize risk. We recommend pre-treatment strengthening and tailored solutions for fragile hair to protect integrity.
Most perms last three to six months depending on hair growth, texture, and care routine. Refresh timing varies; many clients return for partial touch-ups or root re-perming as curls relax or hair grows out.
Coloring can be done before or after a perm with proper spacing. Often color is applied first to reduce overlapping chemicals, or you may wait two weeks after a perm. We always perform strand tests and plan treatments accordingly.
Avoid washing for 48 hours, use sulfate-free shampoos, nourishing conditioners, and detangle with a wide-tooth comb. Diffuse or air-dry and schedule regular trims and occasional protein/moisture treatments to preserve curl shape and hair health.
Perms can be safe for fine or previously treated hair with modifications. We assess condition and may use gentler solutions, bond-repair treatments, or recommend spacing services. If hair is severely damaged, we’ll suggest alternatives for safety.
Your stylist will consider length, density, face shape, and maintenance preferences when selecting rod size. Bring photos and discuss daily styling time; we’ll recommend a curl pattern that flatters you and fits your routine.
